(This post is the fourth in our blog series to give you a sneak peak at The Intentional Leader, our leader development platform for teams and small-medium sized organizations. How would bit-sized wisdom like this serve your team? More details at the bottom.)

It’s often debated where to start with leadership. Many say that leadership starts with vision. While that is important to leadership, I believe leadership starts with a simple intention or choice. In this week’s lesson, I’ll share that intention and a practice to remind you of it each day. (Hint…it is 4 ½ little words).

Write on a sticky-note or 3×5 card, “It’s not about me” and post it in a place where you can see it (i.e. computer monitor, planner). In each interaction this week, before engaging in the conversation, say to yourself, “It’s not about me.”.

How Humble Leadership Really Works

This lesson is one installment in a month long series called Lead from Any Seat in The Intentional Leader program. The Intentional Leader is a leader development platform for those of you who want to invest in your people but it feels impossible for your budget and the amount of time it typically takes for training. The Intentional Leader delivers bite-sized training that has a massive impact, but that won’t disrupt your business and won’t break the bank.
