Maybe it’s the effect of the eggnog or turning the calendar to a New Year, but I’ve been in big time dreaming mode the last few days and I’m completely excited for 2012. Like Steve Jobs, I’ve got this feeling deep down in me that I’m going to make a dent in the universe and I want to share that passion and belief with every leader.
The fact is that organizations are how things get done in the world and organizations are led by people. I figure that if we can touch the leaders of these organizations (for profit or not-for-profit) and support them to reach their full potential as leaders – as visionaries, developers of people, creative collaborators, master communicators, systematic thinkers and humble servants – not only will their teams and organizations become more powerfully engaged and effective, but also life here on earth could be measurably improved. Those we touch will be happier, healthier, and wiser and will likely go on to serve others in the same way they were served by a leader.
Personally, I’ve committed to reaching 50 leaders in the first 50 days of 2012. Let’s just do the math on that impact on the world:
Let’s say I successfully reach 50 leaders and let’s say they serve an average of 25 people in their leadership role. That means we’ve improved life for 1,250 people. Then say on average each of those people interacts with 20 people in a new way because of what they’ve discovered. That means in 50 days I’ve improved life for over 25,000 people. WOW!
I invite you to take the challenge for yourself and make a leadership breakthrough in 2012. How could reaching your full potential as a leader transform the world around you?
